He has finally decided to leave the popular talk show broadcasted on CNN channel on DISH Network. It has been 25 years since Larry King has been hosting this talk show. The renowned TV anchor announced this via Twitter on Tuesday.
On CNN.com the 76 year old King stated, “I talked to the guys here at CNN and I told them I would like to end Larry King Live, the nightly show, this fall. CNN has graciously accepted, giving me more time for my wife and I to get to the kids’ little league games.”
25 years! ‘Larry King Live’…it has been the longest running talk show ever with the same anchor hosting the show. Larry King is really proud to be a part of this successful show and will be nostalgic too the day he leaves his talk show. Now as Larry King leaves CNN, it’ll surely be end of an era.
Reports say that ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge Piers Morgan might be a possible replacement of Larry King. The 45 year old Morgan hosts ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’ and is a former editor of Britain’s ‘The Mirror’. If he succeeds Larry King, then Morgan will be the first British journalist anchoring an American prime time news program.
The show ‘Larry King Live’ debuted in the year 1985 and till date it has been the longest running show in the history of television talk shows. It’s also CNN’s most watched show with over one million viewers. He has done more than 50,000 interviews in that past 25 years.
Once the news broke out, everyone started asking the same question – “Is Larry King Leaving CNN?” Larry himself came out to confirm it. On this occasion, Larry King said, “I’m incredibly proud that we recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders.”
