Brazil vs North Korea Match

In an exciting Group G match of 2010 FIFA World Cup, Brazil beat North Korea by 2-1. Although this is the Brazil vs North Korea result that many of us expected, but what we didn’t really expect is the fight back that the Koreans have put in. They made the Brazilians work hard to earn 3 points from the game. It’s indeed a valiant show by the Koreans, which has been appreciated by millions of soccer fans across the world. The match was played in Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg and was telecasted live on DISH Network.

The Brazil vs North Korea match has seen some fighting efforts by the Koreans, who kept the Brazilians goalless all through the first half. It’s not before the 10th minute into the second half, when the Brazilians drew the first blood through a magical goal by Maicon from a nearly impossible angle. Elano increased the margin by scoring the second goal for his team in the 72nd minute. At this point of time, it seemed that it’s all over for the Koreans. However, Ji Yun Nam’s 89th minute’s goal brought some tensed moments for Brazilians.

On paper, it was an uneven contest between two teams – one is five-time world champions and the other one is ranked at 105 in the FIFA ranking. The first half of the game was also dominated by the former world champion. However, the Korean resilience made the first half end scoreless. The efforts of Japan-based striker, Jong Tae-Se were noticeable. Although Brazilian star Kaka made a dangerous run into the opponent’s box in the early minutes of the game, which could have easily set the tone of the match, but Koreans were brave enough to shield Brazilian attack. It can be recalled here that, this Korean side conceded only 7 goals in their 14 qualifying matches. It only speaks about the strength of their defense.

In the second half, we came to see a much brighter Brazilian side. The results were inevitable – Maicon scored in the 55th minute and Elano increased the margin in the 72nd minute. However, just before the final whistle, Ji Yun Nam drove past Julio Cesar of Brazil in the penalty area to score a memorable goal for the Koreans.

Tagged Under : ,

USA England Match

The US Men’s Soccer team started their journey in 2010 FIFA World Cup with reasonably happy note. In their first group league match against England, USA managed a 1-1 draw against England, after recovering from behind. The Match 5 of Group C – USA vs England 2010 was held at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday, June 12. The match was telecasted live on your DISH Network.

The USA vs England match was full of excitement and was eventful as well. It’s a small yet costly mistake by England goalkeeper Green that gave an opportunity to the US soccer team to come back into the game. England got the lead through a wonderful work by the skipper, Steven Gerrard. England started the game in an attacking note, as it kept penetrating the USA defence consistently. In one of such moves, Steven Gerrard found a perfect ball through Frank Lampard and Emile Heskey. A flick of his right leg gave England the much needed lead in the fourth minute of the game.

USA soccer team came back into the game out of the blue. A horrible mistake by England’s goalkeeper gave USA the change to level the score. The 25-yard drive of Clint Dempsey slipped through his grasp as he kept watching the ball entering into the net. USA continued to keep England under pressure. Jozy Altidore narrowly missed a teasing cross from Landon Donovan. Oguchi Onyewu also missed a header from a set-piece movement of Donovan.

On the other hand, England increased its influence over the game from the second half onwards. Rooney started finding more spaces and kept penetrating USA defence now and often. He narrowly missed a header from the cross of Gerrard. However, England couldn’t transform all these efforts into success – the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Although it is now too early days to put on some light on that, it can be added here that USA and England have 1 point each from 1 match. FIFA World Cup Results: Nigeria vs Argentina 2010 – Argentina Wins

Tagged Under : , ,

Argentina Game

The second game of the Day 2 of 2010 FIFA World Cup has come to an end. Well, we can’t call it as an ‘exciting’ finish, but it was certainly an enjoyable one, especially if you are an Argentina fan. The Match 3, Nigeria vs Argentina 2010 was thoroughly dominated by Diego Maradona’s team. The end result – Argentina wins by 1-0. The match was broadcasted live on DISH Network.

The match was scheduled to be held at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg. It was a galore of missed opportunities for the Argentineans all through the game. Argentina started off the game with an attacking mood right from the world go. The FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi managed to split through the defence of the Super Eagles early in the fourth minute of the game to open up the goalmouth for Gonzalo Higuain. But Higuain failed to capitalize the opportunity. After a couple of minutes, Messi again penetrated the Nigerian defence – this time, through a powerful shot taken from 20 yards away. Like several other times in the match afterwards, goalkeeper Enyeama came into the rescue. However, it was not enough for Nigeria. Heinze drew the first and the only blood from the resulting corner to give Argentina the much relieving 1-0 lead.

The next one and half hours saw full of Argentinean domination on the field. However, Argentineans kept on wasting opportunities one after another. Messi became the biggest threats for Nigeria. However, the situation changed a bit when Obafemi Martins was introduced. The move brought up some relief in the Nigerian camp as they also started planting some attacks on the Argentinean half, which didn’t materialize though. During the dying moments of the match, Messi also missed some easy opportunities, which if utilized, could have increased the margin of Argentinean win.

It was however an enjoyable game for all the soccer lovers. Hope, you have also enjoyed it thoroughly. There are also several more exciting games coming up. Stay tuned to your DISH Network.
