In an exciting Group G match of 2010 FIFA World Cup, Brazil beat North Korea by 2-1. Although this is the Brazil vs North Korea result that many of us expected, but what we didn’t really expect is the fight back that the Koreans have put in. The first half of the game was also dominated by the former world champion. However, the Korean resilience made the first half end scoreless. The efforts of Japan-based striker, Jong Tae-Se were noticeable. Although Brazilian star Kaka made a dangerous run into the opponent’s box in the early minutes of the game, which could have easily set the tone of the match, but Koreans were brave enough to shield Brazilian attack. It can be recalled here that, this Korean side conceded only 7 goals in their 14 qualifying matches. It only speaks about the strength of their defense.
In the second half, we came to see a much brighter Brazilian side. The results were inevitable – Maicon scored in the 55th minute and Elano increased the margin in the 72nd minute. However, just before the final whistle, Ji Yun Nam drove past Julio Cesar of Brazil in the penalty area to score a memorable goal for the Koreans.
