What is DISH Network?

What programs does DISH Network offer?

Why do I need to pay for local DISH Network channels?
DISH Network pays each satellite television programming affiliate for the rebroadcast rights. Covering a wide range of location, DISH Network can never include the local channels to their basic programming packages as not all the customers are entitled to get the local networking channels. Therefore subscribers need to pay for selective local channels.

How to pay dish TV bills?
DISH Network subscribers can pay their bills through various convenient payment options. Depending on the system set by the retailers you can either pay online or by mail. Some satellite TV service providers deduct your payment amount directly from your bank account every month.

What are the basic components of satellite TV?
There are four basic components needed to set up a satellite TV connection at your terminal. These are the satellite TV dish that holds a central feed horn, satellite TV receiver, infrared remote control and a compatible television system.  

What are the functionalities of satellite TV dish and receiver?
Satellite signals are received by the parabolic satellite TV dish and they are collected by the feed horn centrally placed on the dish. Feed horn pass on the DISH Network signals to the satellite TV receivers through satellite TV cable. You can place more than one feedhorn to the dish and get multiple transmission signals.

After receiving signals from feedhorn, satellite TV receiver decodes and transforms digital signals into analog and transmits them to the television terminal.

Can I install satellite TV dish indoor?
Yes you can install the system inside your room but mind to face it at southern window to receive the signals. But, as the satellite signals transmit in straight lines, it often fails to reach your DISH Network antenna placed indoor. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you install the DISH Network outside in a suitable location.

Can I paint satellite TV dish matching to my walls?
Painting satellite TV antenna is not a good idea as that reduces the signal receptive power of the dish surface. Using metallic paint or latex on the devise is strictly prohibited.

How does weather affect DISH Network services?
Bad weather like heavy wind, storm, blizzard etc. spoils and disrupt satellite TV connections. It happens very rare and any such accidental disconnection is restored immediately.

Can I get HDTV receiver with my dish TV package?
Yes you can get if your luck favors. Some of the retailers offer HDTV receiver for free as promotional offer. Else your television system needs to have a built in HD decoder or you can buy an external HD decoder to get advantage of high definition output. How can I get DISH Network connection for free?
Depending on your retailer you can get satellite TV receiver and system installation assistance for free with long term agreement. First time dish TV customers are entitled to get the free service facility as promotional offer.

Why do I need a phone line connection with DISH Network?
A phone line connection is required to provide uninterrupted satellite TV service and most importantly to provide continuous access to DISH-On-Demand movies and events. The telephone set up can only be accessed with a toll free number (800).

Can I switch from DirecTV to DISH Network service?
DISH Network and DirecTV are completely different entity and the equipments are not compatible to each other. Therefore you can switch from one service to the other with a same set up...

Can I get DISH Network installed if I am living in an apartment?
Yes. If you are living in an apartment or condo, you can install the satellite TV dish on your balcony or patio. If permanent mounting is not possible you can mount your satellite TV dish on a movable stand.

Can I watch different DISH Network programs in different rooms?
Yes. DISH Network connection gives multiple reception option with 4 to 5 satellite TV receivers. Installing a dual-LNB satellite system dish with multiple DISH Network receivers you can get different channels in different television terminals.

Can I get internet access with DISH Network connection?
Satellite TV service providers can also offer high speed internet access with DISH Network system in major part of USA. This DISH Network internet is termed as satellite DSL. You need to talk with your dish TV dealer for further details.

Can I get local channels on my DISH Network?
Yes. DISH Network offer local channels in most metropolitan areas as a part of satellite TV programming package.

Can I get religious programs on DISH Network?

Can I get adult channels in my standard DISH Network package?
Your standard dish network package may not include adult programs. You can get adult dish TV channels on pay per view basis.
